User Experience

User Interface

Identity Design

Development

I worked on the the UX/UI overhaul of Shell’s internal Technology Delivery Portal, transforming it from a cluttered, content-heavy resource into a clear, user-first knowledge ecosystem. By auditing and restructuring the portal’s information, breaking dense text into modular components, streamlining navigation, and reinforcing visual consistency with Shell’s brand, I was able to significantly improve the user experience.

Our observations:

  • +40% in Content & Structure clarity

  • +32% in Approachability of content

  • +28% in Comprehension of information

  • +32% in Information recall

These improvements not only made the portal far easier to use, but shifted internal sentiment from "too dense" to "go-to resource" across Shell’s global P&T teams.

YEAR
2025

Of all the activities that take over my schedule, writing is the oldest. By writing here, I mean the mundane, the creative, the necessary, the text messages or short emails, social media posts or introspective notes, it is all writing. it is the first skill you lead up to when enrolled in school. Four year olds often don’t get a say in what they are to learn. If asked, I would likely have chosen learning how to braid hair for dolls, or how to pioneer in holding my breath till I got what I wanted.

But the english alphabet was taught to me instead. With that came a lifelong skill that is essential for my communication.

Drafts are a given in writing.

With every skill, there are tools that enable us. A pen and paper suffice. I am as analog as one can be, I adore my bullet journals, sketchbooks, my written list of “100 fun things to do this year”. I also have a second brain on the internet, clippings and notes from corners of the internet that are stored and forgotten. I am as regular as they come, and so my writing is also regular

My requirements have been limited to emails, notes, messages, updates, posts, and the paraphernalia of content that populates my communication with other people and my own presence on the internet.

So here I built a tool to assist in my day to day writing.

Usually this is what is looks like:

But sometimes the drafting cycles are different.

Writing for work, in particular, as unique requirements of versions and drafting. At several stages an idea or an important email is thought out, drafted and sent. And in between these stages, I find several of these drafts rather relevant for a different purpose or a future date.

There is another factor of modern day writing that has brought on the problem statement I chose to address here.

Generative AI text is boring.

Draftovoski-Asset-3-Eye-4.png

It is often repetitive, boring to read and lacks complexity. The most egregious outcome is the loss of individuality. I am not looking to challenge the growing use of GPT for writing text. In fact, I do believe it is a useful assistant in such endeavours.

Problem Statement

Inclusion of personality and authenticity in GPT generated content.

Relying entirely on generative AI without editing and iterating, to make it one's own, is essential. That is precisely what I am trying to address here.

Solution

Lean drafting interface that enables easy editing.

Identifying UX Pain Points & Research Insights

Before jumping into high-fidelity designs, I focused on understanding how writing is undertaken day to day. Who are we designing for? What decisions do they need to make quickly? And how should the interface support their usage with Chat GPT?
